The error message “Error retrieving update info file” usually appears when Spybot-S&D has accidently imported bad Internet Explorer proxy settings.

When repairing Quick Books, or opening Quick Books after installing the latest update for a previous Quick Books version on the same system, you receive the following message: Error 1328: Applying patch to file C:\config.msi\PT30E.tmpor Error 1328: Applying patch to file C:\config.msi\PT583.
It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. You can receive this error when the files in the folder prevent Quick Books from finishing the repair or update.
The folder is a temporary repository for storing scripts that are needed to rollback an installation if it fails.
After the application is installed correctly, the contents of this folder are deleted.
Sometimes this content cannot be removed, causing problems with Quick Books ability to repair or update itself. The file in the mysql data folder is gone and mysql just wont behave without it. The mysql.socket is no longer visible in /tmp eventhough mysql thinks it is. Getting these bad boy errors on your mysql on OSX, there seems to be lots of solutions about how to fix this, Google hell, this more than likely happens if mysql is running and the OS is updated like from OSX Mountain Lion to Mavericks. So possible solutions are, first up try a straight restart: Not too sure about recreating the file, i tried this and it just removed itself! But these may not solve the issue, I found a clean install of the latest mysql will address the issue by installing all components from the dmg.
